Do board exams count for CME?

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board certification offers 60 Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) – Category 1 credits to physicians, for board certification. Additionally, a specialty certificate from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) makes one eligible for extra MOC points.

The American Medical Association (AMA) PRA credit system standards aims at encouraging innovation and flexibility in CME activities that are certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

These activities meet the education standards and are not dependent on sponsors, and thus do not have
